HISTORY

George Radney, Sr.

and

Mary Thomas Radney

Reverend George Washington Radney was born on October 15, 1854 on a plantation in Stewart County, Georgia.  The place was then called Jamestown, but it no longer exists.  It was located Northwest of Louvale, Georgia.

His mother, Hannah Radney Abrams, brought him up in a Christian and God-fearing home.  In later years he became a Baptist minister and served many years as a Pastor.

CHILDREN

On December 11, 1875, he married Mary Thomas, daughter of Kin and Jane Thomas.  To this union were born eleven children: James Radney, George Radney, Luella Radney Cox, Mabelle Radney Thornton, Leola Radney Hall, John T. Radney, Emma Radney Tomlin, Charlie Radney, Laura Radney, Willie Radney, and Clark Radney.  All of the eleven have now passed.

On July 8, 1920, Mary Thomas Radney passed at the age of 70 years old.  On July 3, 1941, Rev. George Washington Radney passed at the age of 87 years old.  

 

The real history of our family is seen in you and me today.  You and I have grown and developed because of the humble beginnings we shared from Grandma and Grandpa Radney.  Let us be grateful for every sacrifice our fore-parents made so that you and I can enjoy the lives we enjoy today.
